The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has summoned businessman Stanley Livondo over his remarks on an assassination attempt on President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a letter seen by the Star, Livondo has been asked to present himself at DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road at 2 pm

"I hereby compel you to Hon Stanley Livondo to appear before me at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations situated along Kiambu road at Mazingira House today 21st February 2022 at 2.00 pm without fail," reads the letter by Superintendent of Police Kuria Obadiah.

Without evidence, Livondo claimed a senior person, who he did not name, tried to assassinate President Uhuru Kenyatta twice.

The controversial politician also known as Mr Money Bags further alleged that both attempts involved aeroplanes that the president was using.

“You have a friend, who attempted to crash your plane twice, will you forgive him?  The first attempt was when President Uhuru Kenyatta was leaving Kisumu and the second attempt was when he was going to the US through Dubai and he had to make a detour,” Livondo said.

He spoke at the thanksgiving ceremony for Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria on Saturday in Thika Town.

Speaking after recording a statement with DCI, Livondo said he had given all the required details and those involved will be known soon.

He said that all he will be back for further questioning on Thursday.

"They have asked me to come back on Thursday after they complete preliminary investigations," Livondo said.

On Sunday, Kuria said called on DCI to arrest the political activist saying that he would take responsibility for what he termed as a reckless statement, having invited him to the event.

“As the convener of the thanksgiving prayer meeting in Thika, I may not be responsible for what speakers said, but it was my meeting, and I have to take responsibility," he said.

“I have today requested DCI boss George Kinoti to arrest Stanley Livondo following his reckless statement."
