Whether the union between Musalia Mudavadi and DP William Ruto will diminish Raila Odinga's influence in Western is not a subject to worry about because no impact is felt on the ground.

The highly-publicised "earthquake" only swallowed Musalia and the few remaining individuals following him.

The decision by Mudavadi to join forces with Ruto's United Democratic Alliance is a mission with little impact especially in Western.

The union of the two sinks Mudavadi's political life into deep pit.

The only formula that could have yielded some results to the benefit of Musalia Mudavadi was if he dissociated completely from William Ruto and UDA. Their union leaves ANC and Musalia as an appendage of UDA.

It is not the first time that Western residents have had to choose Raila Odinga over Musalia.

This has always been attributed to the fact that it is Raila Odinga who seems to understand better and articulate issues that touch on the lives of Western Kenya residents.

Raila Odinga and the Azimio caravan have once again shown that they have a better strategy to bag the votes from the Mulembe Nation.

It is worth noting that the Western people are keen to follow the Elijah Masinde prophesy on how the Abaluhya will rise to presidency.

It is in many lips that the presidency will move to Western from the lake and that gives premium to those leaders backing Raila Odinga for president.

Ruto's forays into the region will not yield much since many Western residents blame him and the Jubilee government, where he is the principal assistant, for the collapse and dwindling fortunes of industries.

Ruto has been unable to offer solutions to the ailing Mumias and Pan Paper industries. What can he do different if elected president?

Besides, the union of the two reminds Kenyans of past corrupt dealings that happened under their watch.

It has always been alleged that Mudavadi and Ruto have been mentioned in various scandals. The scourge of corruption has denied many able Kenyans the best opportunities, leaving many graduates jobless and frustrated.

It is therefore worth noting that the union between Mudavadi and Ruto has only aggravated Ruto's woes.
