Ward representatives in a cosmopolitan county have been labelled a confused lot who do not know which political direction to take, though the general election fast approaches. A staff member at the county assembly told Corridors that the MCAs are not sure whether to rally behind Deputy President William Ruto or ODM leader Raila Odinga (pictured) ahead of the August 9 polls. The majority and minority leaders in the assembly have remained silent on the matter, further worsening the situation. Aspirants eying ward seats have taken advantage of the leadership vacuum and are capitalising on the indecision of the MCAs to rally support for themselves.

Is a long-serving MP and seasoned politician from Nyanza considering retiring from politics? Well, his handlers say the legislator is facing stiff competition from a youthful city MCA who has retreated to vie for a parliamentary seat in his rural constituency. The young ward rep, who has served in the position for two terms, is said to be giving the MP a run for his money. He has rallied the youth and women behind him. Sensing that he may be beaten by a huge margin, the MP wants to avoid being humiliated by a man who is the age of his children.

A constituency in Nairobi has become a centre of focus following the decision by many aspirants to vie in the area. A relative to a senior politician who had hinted at vying there has, however, reportedly withdrawn from the race after the big man asked him to do so. But the interesting part of it is that another youthful aspirant has been identified as having sponsored blogs besmirching the good name of the senior politician after his relative declared interest in the position. A little bird whispers to Corridors of Power that the sponsor of the negative messages will be in for a rude shock as the powers that be in his preferred party have decided to teach him a lesson.

A governor hopeful in Western Kenya might miss out on his nomination ticket as his dark past surrounding the embezzlement of public funds returns to haunt him. His rivals are said to be behind current talk in town about how he made his fortune through corrupt dealings. His party of choice has taken notice of the debate and during a recent rally in the region, the aspirant was not given a chance to address the gathering. Interestingly, an organisation he founded was among key sponsors of the political event. It is understood that the party ticket might be given to another upcoming politician who has expressed interest in the same seat.
