A 29-year-old woman killed her two children before committing suicide at Kaitika village in Kakuzi, Ithanga sub-county, Murang’a county.
The woman, Mary Mulombe, is said to have committed the shocking act around 7.30 am on Sunday morning.
Mulombe, who was married to a military officer poisoned her two children aged five and two years to death before locking herself in the bedroom and took her life by hanging.
A suicide note was found at the scene in which Mulombe indicated that her husband had been unfaithful to her and named several names of women that she said she was aware he was dating.
She said she had Sh. 100,000 in her M-pesa account and wrote down her M-pesa pin. She also said she had left Sh. 80,000 in her KCB account and indicated her pin.
“In my life, I don’t have another man except you. I was so faithful to you but you gave me pain every day,” she said.
“Your girls tell you bye, they will miss you so much,” the note dated January 16 and written in an exercise book read.
Another page was filled with ‘Bye’ written across it.
Area sub-county police commander John Ogolla confirmed that the deceased gave poison to her two children before taking her life.
He said the suicide note was five pages long but declined to disclose details.
The bodies were taken to Thika Level 5 hospital.
