ODM party leader Raila Odinga will today tour Taita Taveta in a bid to woo voters ahead of August elections.

Raila will make a one-day tour of Taita-Taveta County where he is expected to perform the official launch of several water projects undertaken by both the local County Government and address public barazas.

The water projects are in Maktau and Overseer areas which have been badly affected by shortage of water for over the years.

Raila will thereafter address two rallies; one at Overseer town and another one in Mwatate town.

During the rallies, he is expected to give the message of peace, love, hope and a prosperous Kenya through his Azimio la Umoja initiative.

He is expected to arrive at Maktau in Mwatate Constituency at 11:00 am.

The ODM party leader will be received by local leaders led by the Governor of Taita-Taveta County Granton Samboja, area MP Andrew Mwadime (Mwatate), the Deputy Leader of the Majority Party in the National Assembly Naomi Shaban, Senator of Taita-Taveta County Jones Mwaruma among others.

The ODM boss targets to use the rallies to consolidate his support base in the region and ward off forays by Deputy President William Ruto.

The county was predominantly an ODM bedrock but has since shifted after the 2017 general election.

DP Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance has gained inroads in the region, sending a warning signals to Raila camp.
