Three Chogoria Girls High School students, matatu driver have died in an accident in Kambiti, Murang'a.

Murang'a South Sub county police commander Alexander Shikondi said the matatu belonging to Mark One Sacco was trying to overtake a truck when it collided head-on with a lorry.

The driver of the matatu also lost his life.

"The matatu was heading from Sagana to the Kenol direction when the accident occurred this morning," Shikondi said.

Other students who sustained injuries were rushed to various hospitals for treatment while the bodies were taken to Thika Level 5 mortuary awaiting autopsy.

The wreckage of the matatu was towed to Makuyu police station awaiting inspection.
