President Uhuru Kenyatta has condoled with the family of former Kitui Governor Julius Malombe following the death of his wife Edith Malombe.
In his message of solace, the head of state mourned Mama Edith as a distinguished lawyer and champion of social justice whose death was a big blow to the country.
"The death of Mama Edith is not only a big blow to the family of my friend Dr Julius Malombe but to thousands of Kenyans who benefitted directly or indirectly from her resourcefulness as a lawyer and champion of social justice," Uhuru said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Throughout her public life, Mama Edith continuously created opportunities for others to thrive," Uhuru said.
Mama Edith served as Kitui First Lady between March, 2013 and August, 2017.
Uhuru further eulogized her as a contributor to Kenya's healthcare for working closely with First lady Margaret Kenyatta's Beyond Zero initiative to expand access to maternal healthcare in the county.
"As a country, we owe a debt of gratitude to Mama Edith for the work she did over the years towards making Kenya a better country for all," Uhuru said.
The president prayed for God's comfort to the family of Julius Malombe and friends as they continue to come to terms with the death of Mama Edith.
