Kenya records 96 new Covid-19 cases with 2.4% positivity

The country's fatalities remains 5,335 as no new death was reported.

Kenya on Thursday recorded 96 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 255,260, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a press briefing confirmed that this was from a sample size of 4,040 recording a positivity rate of 2.4 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 2,843,958..

Kagwe said that there are 173 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 811 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of five patients are in ICU, out of which four are on ventilatory support.

Also, 55 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 53 are in general wards and two in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 26 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 15 were from the Homebased care program while 11 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya's recoveries now stand at 248,376.

VACCINATION

As of December 1, 2021, a total of 7,303,643 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, 4,483,815 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 2,819,828.
