President Uhuru Kenyatta and top security chiefs retreated to a meeting at an exclusive military base in Samburu.
Officials said the meeting is meant to review security and national economic situation.
The team will meet Saturday and Sunday at Kamanga Military camp in Samburu county.
Experts were taken to the exclusive resort to explain the status of the economy and security and come up with strategies to be applied going forward.
Those in attendance will include Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, top security chiefs including those from military, police and intelligence and other experts.
As part of the plans, according to those aware, the team will also engage in other co-curricular activities including shooting.
The President who had been out of the country for the past week, presided over the Kenya Defence Forces Cadets Commissioning Parade at Lanet, Nakuru county before he flew to Kamanga.
The President who has been out of the country since November 18 while on a trip to Mozambique, South Africa and Uganda arrived in the country Thursday evening ahead of the event.
He was on various trips in the countries in a bid to find a solution to the Ethiopian crisis pitting the National government and Tigray people which has displaced many.
On Monday November 29, he is expected at the National Police College Campus A, Embakasi for the passing out parade of 2,610 recruits.
On Tuesday November 30, he has scheduled the State of Nation Address in a joint sitting of the Houses of Parliament.
On December 8 he will preside over the parade for the General Service Unit at the National Police College Campus B in Embakasi.
The public is not allowed to attend the events due to among others terror threats.
The Kamanga meeting comes in the wake of heightened police operations against terror threats.
Last week, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i warned Kenyans to brace themselves for more security checks within vital facilities, as the government heightens security across the country.
These will include airports and railway stations.
The CS said despite the re-arrest of Musharaf Abdalla Akhulunga, Mohamed Ali Abikar and Joseph Juma Odhiambo who escaped from Kamiti Maximum Prison, the country was yet to get out of the woods.
“We are not out of the woods yet and I need to caution the public that we are in an unusual space because of what is happening around us. Please let us be very careful and watchful. This is the time to maintain a lot of care in what we do,” the CS said.
The President left Kenya on November 18 where he was the chief guest during the second edition of the “Growing Blue” International Blue Economy Conference.
The conference, which was opened by Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi, builds up from the first “Growing Blue” conference that was held in Maputo, Mozambique in 2019.
He arrived in Pretoria on November 22 for a three-day state visit and was officially received by his host President Cyril Ramaphosa at a colourful state reception that included a 21-gun salute and a guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the South African military.
He on Wednesday flew to Uganda for talks with his host Yoweri Museveni on regional security issues before jetting to Kenya.
