A 27-year-old IT intern surrendered to police in Loitoktok, Kajiado county, after he allegedly stabbed his medical student girlfriend to death.

Samson Kemoi walked to the local police station and reported he had visited his 22-year old girlfriend Miriam Chepchirchir. She is a student at the local Kenya Medical Training College.

A quarrel and physical fight broke out on Saturday morning.

Kemoi said he stabbed Chepchirchir and left her for dead.

Police accompanied him to the scene at Kamkunji estate found the body the floor; it had multiple chest wounds.

Police said they recovered the apparent murder weapon from the scene. They said the house showed signs of struggle.

The body was taken to the local mortuary for a postmortem exam.

Kemoi was detained and investigations were underway.

Police said they are yet to establish the motive of the but said it could involve a love triangle.

Meanwhile, police in Bomet said they detained a man who allegedly killed his neighbour on Saturay over a Sh400 debt.

Evans Mutai, who owns a shop at Sibaiyan location, was arrested after he allegedly stabbed Festus Keter, 35, in the chest and carried on with hi business.

Police said the two men argued a Sh400 debt owed the shopkeeper. Keter was stabbed in the chest and left for dead.

A villager who stumbled on the body informed detectives at Chesoen police station.

The officers rushed 10km to the scene, conducted preliminary investigations and arrested the trader.

They said a blood-stained knife was recovered.

Police said Mutai would be arraigned on a murder charge.
