The seventh Devolution conference will be held next month in Makueni county, the Council of Governors has announced.

Council of Governors chairman Martin Wambora on Monday said the event will be held between November 23 and 26 at Makueni Boys High School.

The conference was postponed in August due to a spike in Covid-19 cases.

Wambora said the decision to hold the event next month has been informed by the drop in Covid-19 infections.

The CoG boss addressed a press conference at the Council's Delta House headquarters in Nairobi.

"Noting that the first era of devolution is coming to an end, it is important to take stock of the journey and pave the way for the second generation of county governments," he said.

In August, the CoG said the conference would adopt the dialogue approach through a panel discussion followed by plenary engagements which will consist of main plenums and 14 sector breakaway sessions.

The conference was to be attended by 1,000 delegates, who per the council will be have been vaccinated before the conference starts.

To ensure that the protocols set by MoH are followed, there was to be no onsight registration.
