A man has died in a love triangle in Bumula, Bungoma county.

Titus Wamalwa died on the spot when his opponent Oliver Wafula struck his chest with a kitchen knife.

As the two conversed about a woman only known as Njoki, it developed to a bitter exchange.

"On the verge of defeat, the suspect suddenly reached for a kitchen knife in the house and drove it deep into his opponent’s chest, killing him on the spot," DCI director George Kinoti said.

Kinoti said after the actions, Wafula immediately went into hiding but noted that he sustained serious injuries.

However, he was arrested at Kimwanga market trying to sneak out of town.

"The bloodstained kitchen knife was recovered from the woman’s house," Kinoti added.

It was not clear whether Njoki was in the house or not.
