A murder suspect who was on the run after killing a 7-year-old boy and injuring his mother has been arrested.

Lydiah Kipng'etich attacked her employer's family on September 24 in Baringo's Marigat sub-county before fleeing.

DCI director George Kinoti said on Monday that Kipng'etich 24, was armed with a panga and a rungu during the attack.

On the fateful night, Kinoti said Kipng'etich crept into the master bedroom of her employer heinously attacking her in her sleep.

The woman was attacked on her her arms, head and neck.

“With the man of the house (prison warden) away on duty, the killer nanny had found a perfect time to strike his family,” Kinoti said.

“It was in the process of getting the woman ready for hospital that the neighbours stumbled upon the boy's body hidden under the bed."

Kinoti said the boy had some blood oozing from the mouth, with no physical injuries.

She was arrested after hours of engaging detectives in a cat and mouse activity in Kongasis.

She was escorted to Marigat Police Station awaiting arraignment at Kabarnet Law Courts tomorrow.
