Uhuru reshuffles Cabinet

•CS Monica Juma has been moved from Defence to Energy; Charles Keter from Energy to Devolution and Eugene Wamalwa from Devolution to Defence.

•Four PSs have also been reassigned.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has made a reshuffle of his Cabinet.

In the changes announced on Wednesday, CS Monica Juma has been moved from Defence to Energy; Charles Keter from Energy to Devolution and Eugene Wamalwa from Devolution to Defence.

Four PSs have also been reassigned.

State Department for Public Works PS Gordon O. Kihalangwa has been moved to Energy and replaced with Solomon Kitungu from transport Department.

Energy PS Joseph Njoroge has been moved to State Department for Transport.

The powerful docket of social protection, pensions and senior citizens was moved from the ministry of Labour and will now be domiciled at the public service ministry. 

The department runs billions budget annually under the giant National Safety Net Programme through three cash transfer Programmes for Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Older Persons Cash Transfer4 and People With Severe Disabilities-Cash Transfer. 

Nelson Marwa was retained as the PS for the docket but will now report to Public Service CS Margret Kobia. 

The changes take effect immediately.

Public Service CS Margaret Kobia has ASAL functions added to her docket; with the ministry renamed Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs & Special Programmes.

The ASAL functions have moved from the Devolution ministry.
