Ofafa Jericho High School on fire

No fatalities have so far been reported.

•An unknown number of students are reported to have been rushed to the Metropolitan hospital in Buru Buru where they are currently being treated.

•Police have opened investigations to ascertain the cause of fire reported to have started at around 7pm, on Monday.

Fire has razed down a dormitory at Ofafa Jericho High school in Nairobi.

Multiple sources revealed to the Star that the fire destroyed beddings and other personal effects belonging to students.

More than 30 students are admitted in hospital after smoke inhalation as they tried to put out the fire.

Some were taken to Metropolitan hospital in Buru Buru where they received first aid, before they were transferred to other hospitals and they are all in stable condition.

According to the school Principal Mathew Linge, no student was hurt in the fire 

"We are putting up all the information together so that by tomorrow we will have gathered all necessary information to be able to know who were involved," he said.

The principal added that affected dormitory houses around 15 students.

The Nairobi County Fire Brigade contained the fire.

The cause of the fire is not known.
