655 recoveries as 113 test positive for Covid-19

The Ministry of Health has announced 113 new cases of Covid-19 from 2,680 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The new cases bring total infections in country to 246,643 and the positivity rate to 4.2%.

Total recoveries have risen to 237,950 after 655 patients recovered from Covid-19; 465 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program, while 190 are from various health facilities.

Another six deaths have been recorded; one having occurred in the last 24 hours while five are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in September 2021.

Cumulative fatalities now stand at 4,995.

A total of 1,410 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals countrywide, while 3,107 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 

Another 105 patients are in the ICU, 73 of whom are on ventilatory support and 27 on supplemental oxygen. Five other patients are under observation.

Some 478 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, 445 of them in general wards and 33 in High Dependency Units (HDU).

The cases are distributed in counties as follows; Nairobi 60, Garissa 9, Kiambu and Meru 8 cases each, Kajiado and Kitui 5 each, Nakuru and West Pokot 4 each, while Marsabit and Tharaka Nithi recorded two cases each.

Embu, Kericho, Kwale, Laikipia, Machakos and Murang’a recorded a case each.
