Tiaty Mp William Kamket to spend night in police custody

Kamket will be arraigned in Court tomorrow to face Incitement charges.

Tiaty Mp William Kamket will spend the night at the Kaptembwa police station in Nakuru after he was arrested over insecurities in Laikipia,

Baringo County Police commander Robinson Ndiwa confirmed the arrest of Kamket saying that he will be face Incitement Charges.

"We have arrested the member of Parliament for Tiaty where the herders come from, these people are employed to take care of animals from prominent people the Mp included, the government is facing a lot of resistance because this people are armed and have been incited," Ndiwa said.

He added that police have a strong believe that the politicians arrested today are actively involved in the skirmishes happening in Laikipia.

Kamket's lawyer Bernhard Kipkoech Ngetich has however slammed the police for the failure to present the Mp in court today saying they are hell-bent on persecuting him.

Kamket will be arraigned in Court tomorrow to face Incitement charges.

The police said that the MP was arrested following unending conflict witnessed in Laikipia and Baringo counties.

His arrest was confirmed by Baringo County Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa.

“Today, we have arrested Tiaty MP where the herders come from. Those herders are the people who have been employed to look after the animals for prominent people, the MP being included," Ndiwa said.

Ndiwa added that the operation is still going on and that they are facing a lot of resistance from the armed herders who have been incited to violence and not to leave Laikipia.

“So we arrested the MP to come and answer the charges of incitement and clashes in regard to what has been going on in Laikipia and Baringo.”
