Family, friends and politicians gathered at the Good Shepherd Church in Nairobi on Thursday for a requiem for nominated Senator Victor Prengei.
Prengei, the first Ogiek to sit in Parliament, succumbed to injuries following a road accident in Nakuru last week. He was 37 years old.
Several members from his Jubilee party attended the service.

Deputy President William Ruto sent his message of condolence to the family of Prengei through Kihika.
Ruto eulogised Prengei as a modest and distinguished public servant who was committed to championing the plight of the minority in Kenya.
Other politicians who were present include Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, Elgeyo Marakwet's Kipchumba Murkomen, Bungoma's Wetangula and Kajiado's Philip Payne.
On Wednesday, lawmakers led by Speaker Kenneth Lusaka, trooped to the Lee Funeral Home to view the body.
“This is a very big loss. Prengei has been with us in the Senate. He is a very calm fellow. A senator who was very passionate about land matters,” a sombre Lusaka said.
