ODM chief Raila Odinga plans to launch a countrywide tour to trigger a political "tsunami".

Raila said he will hold a meeting of all ODM party delegates from Nyanza in Sikri, Homa Bay to put the region in focus ahead of similar meetings across the country, which will launch a new coalition he likened to a political tsunami.

After Nyanza, Raila will tour Western Kenya, followed by the Coast region, Northeastern, Eastern, the Rift Valley and Nairobi.

“We will also move to Mt Kenya region where we will flatten the political mountain with a bulldozer that will usher in a new political tsunami, which will sweep across the country in next elections,” Raila said.

This comes after ODM pulled out from Nasa, which Raila used to vie for the presidency in 2017.

Raila alongside his deputy party leader and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya were at the weekend hosted by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed to meet delegates from Migori county.

The Migori meeting came as Raila seeks to solidify the county against Governor Okoth Obado, who has bolted to People Democratic Party, which he is popularising in the county.

Obado, despite being elected on the Orange party ticket, has promised to vie for president in 2022 on the PDP ticket.

“There are people who are wriggling here. Those ones you can deal with them,” Raila told delegates in Dholuo. Several speakers castigated the county boss.

Obado and his key followers in the county skipped the meeting.

Raila said he has managed to turn “our great enemies into political friends and we now have a few enemies that we are left with. This shows what is to come in the coming days.”

“Our journey to State House is like the journey of the Israelites when they were coming from Egypt heading to Canaan. We still know where we are despite the journey being far,” he said.

Junet said the forthcoming political tsunami which is cooking will carry away Obado and his PDP outfit like chaff into a river “because what is coming will take home even bigger names in politics who plan to stand on our way.”

Migori Senator Ochillo Ayacko and Woman Representative Pamela Odhiambo said Obado and his PDP outfit was a small matter that they will handle in the county and Nyanza region, which should not worry the ODM party.

Other leaders who were present during the function included nominated MP Dennitah Ghati, Suna West MP Peter Masara and Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga.
