Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu is responding well to medication after being admitted after testing positive for Covid-19.

Sources have told the Star that doctors say she is recovering well and is not in any foreseeable danger.

Kitui county communications team confirmed that the governor is now able to make phone calls on her own and speak freely with visitors.

Ngilu was admitted at Nairobi Hospital on July 25 after being diagnosed with Covid-19.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua made the confirmation on Tuesday during an event organised by artists to express gratitude to the government for waiving taxes on their Skiza tunes earnings.

Ngilu has been in isolation since Sunday.

In March, Ngilu publicly received the Covid-19 vaccine which she said was inspired by President Uhuru Kenyatta doing so.

Ngilu said she had been apprehensive about receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine until the  President got the jab.

“Just like many other Kenyans who were fearful, I was apprehensive. I got the inspiration to get vaccinated after the President did the same,” Ngilu said then.
