646 Covid cases as 391 recover

18 patients have succumbed to the virus, totaling fatalities to 3,556.

The Ministry of Health has announced that 646 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, totaling confirmed cases to 181,885

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said on Friday in a statement that the new cases were picked from a sample size of 6,429 tested in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate of the country on Friday was 10.1 per cent.

From the cases 626 are Kenyans while 20 are foreigners, 351 are males, and 295 females.

The youngest is a seven-month-old baby while the oldest is 92 years.

Total cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,933,402.

The CS said that 391 patients have recovered from the virus, 211 from the Home-Based and Isolation Care program while 180 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Total recoveries now stand at 123,853.

Also, 18 patients have succumbed to the virus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 3,556.

A total of 1,017 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 6,653 patients are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Kagwe added that 102 patients are on the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 33 of whom are on ventilatory support and 52 on supplemental oxygen. 17 patients are under observation.

Another 128 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 119 of them in general wards and 9 in High Dependency Units (HDU).

Nairobi recorded 115 cases, Siaya 83, Kisumu 67, Mombasa 55, Busia 46, Uasin Gishu 34, Nakuru 32, Kakamega 31, Kisii 29, Vihiga 17, Kericho 16, Kiambu 16, Meru 14, Machakos 14, and Homa Bay 13.
