535 recoveries as 456 test positive for Covid-19

The Ministry of Health has announced 456 news cases of Covid-19 from 5,626 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The new cases bring the total case load in the country to 176,137. From the new cases, 424 are Kenyans while 32 are foreigners.

The number of patients who have recovered went up by 535, bringing total recoveries to 120,894.

The ministry announced  seven deaths, bringing total fatalities to 3,428.

One of the seven occurred in the last 24 hours while six are from late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in the month of June.

A total of 975 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals countrywide, while 4,716 patients are under the home-based isolation and care programme.

100 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 29 of whom are on ventilatory support and 59 on supplemental oxygen, while 12 are under observation.

Another 110 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 105 of them in general wards and 5 in High Dependency Units.

The cases are distributed across counties as follows; Nairobi 116, Kisumu 66, Busia 42, Siaya 30, Mombasa 28, Kilifi 26, Homa Bay 22, Bomet and Kakamega 18 cases each, Nyamira 12, and Nakuru 10.

Uasin Gishu and Trans Nzoia 9 cases each, Kisii and Meru 6 cases each, Kericho and Vihiga 5 cases each, Elgeyo Marakwet 4, Kiambu3, Bungoma, Garissa, Turkana, Kajiado, Laikipia and Machakos 2 cases each, Makueni, Murang’a, Nandi, Narok, TaitaTaveta, Tharaka Nithi, Migori, Embu and Kirinyaga  recorded a case each.
