11 deaths as 344 test positive for Covid

The new cases push the positivity rate to 9.4%.

The Ministry of Health has announced 344 new infections from 3,654 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total confirmed positive cases in Kenya 175,681 with cumulative tests standing at 1,870,479.

The new cases push the positivity rate to 9.4%.

According to the ministry, 11 people are reported  to have succumbed to the disease, all of them being late deaths reported from facility record audits in the months of May and June, bringing total fatalities to 3,421.

A total of 151 patients recovered from the disease, 127 from the Home-based care and isolation and 24 from various health facilities across the country.

Total recoveries stand at 120,359.

Patients who are currently admitted in various hospitals are 961, while 4,770 patients are under Home-based care and isolation.

A total of 156 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 28 of whom are on ventilatory support and 108 on supplemental oxygen. 20 patients are under observation.

Another 110 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, 105 of them in general wards and 5 in High Dependency Units.

The cases are distributed across counties as follows; Nairobi 130, Kisumu 47, Uasin Gishu 37, Siaya 19, Bungoma 10, Busia and Mombasa 9 each, Nandi, Kakamega, Trans Nzoia and Kilifi 8 each, Kisii and Nakuru 6 each, Laikipia, Machakos and Homa Bay 5 each, Kiambu 4, Kajiado and Meru 3 each, Kwale, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nyandarua, Nyeri and Taita Taveta 2 each, Baringo, Nyamira and Bomet recorded a case each.
