Only essential staff in Kisii County have been allowed to work from the offices following a surge in Covid-19 infections.
County Secretary Patrick Lumumba , in a statement on Wednesday said several staff have tested positive for Coronavirus necessitating the move.
According to Lumumba, more than ten senior officials at the Country's Treasury department contracted the disease.
He said the administration had received a report from the Ministry of Health showing a spike in infections across the County.
Kisii County registered at least 1709 cases since the disease spread to the region.
There are 37 cases in isolation with 16 patients put on oxygen according to Public Health director Richard Ongware
Governor James Ongware urged residents to social distance and wash hands to stem further infections.
"With this trend we urge our our people to observe guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health to stem further infections," said Ongwae.
