Kenya on Friday recorded 284 new cases of Covid-19, from 4,540 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
This brings the total case load in the country to 171, 942, with the positivity rate standing at 6.3 per cent.
The news cases include 272 Kenyans and 12 foreigners.
In a statement by the Ministry of Health, 124 patients have recovered from the disease, 97 of whom are from various hospitals while 27 are from the Home-based isolation and care. Total recoveries in Kenya are 117, 469.
All the 17 deaths are late reports from facility audits, between April and May. Total deaths stand at 3,240.
A total of 4,946 patients are currently in the Home-based isolation and care, while 1,207 are admitted in various hospitals across the country.
Another 96 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 23 of whom are on ventilatory support and 60 on supplemental oxygen with 13 others under observation.
An additional 92 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, 85 of them in general wards and seven in High Dependency unit.
The new cases are distributed in the counties as follows; Siaya and Nairobi 66 cases each, Kisumu 30, Mombasa 21, Busia 13, Kericho and Nyeri recorded 8 cases each, Kiambu, Nakuru, Turkana and Uasin Gishu 7 recorded seven cases each.
Garissa and Vihiga 6 cases each, Kisii 5, Murang’a 4, Kitui 3, Embu, Migori, Kakamega, Narok, Kirinyaga and Kwale 2 recorded two cases each. Lamu, Marsabit, Meru, Nandi, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Homa Bay and Kajiado each recorded a case.
