Kenya records 469 new virus cases, eight deaths

108 patients admitted in Intensive Care Unit.

Kenya on Tuesday recorded 469 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 166,006, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 6,244 recording a positivity rate of 7.5 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,752,693.

The country's fatalities have risen to 3,021 after another eight patients succumbed to the disease on diverse dates.

Kagwe said that there are 1,039 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 4,714 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 108 patients are in ICU, out of which 22 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 91 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 87 are in general wards and four in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 43 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 29 were from the home-based care programme, while 14 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya's recoveries now stand at 113,919.
