10 deaths as 72 test positive for Covid-19

The Ministry of Health has announced 72 new Covid-19 infections from a sample size of 2,056.

The new cases bring the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 165, 537.

At the same time, 10 new deaths have been reported, three of which occurred on different dates within the past month, while seven are late death reports from facility audits. Total Covid related deaths stand at 3,013.

A total of 262 patients have recovered from the disease, 235 from home-based isolation and care, while 27 are from various hospitals, bringing total recoveries to 113, 874.

Nairobi recorded the most cases with 28, Mombasa 22, Busia9, Kilifi 3, Embu and Homa Bay 2 cases each, Kwale, Laikipia, Machakos, Nakuru, Nyeri and Kiambu 1 case each.

Patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country are 1,036, while 4,729 are on the Home-based isolation and care program.

A total of 108 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, with 23 on ventilatory support, 70 on supplementary oxygen and 15 under observation.

Another 84 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 79 of them in general wards and 5 in High Dependency Units.
