Kenya's Covid positivity at 3.1% after 86 new cases

Eighty-four are Kenyans and two foreigners

• Two patients have succumbed to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of fatalities to 3,003.

The country on Sunday recorded 86 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 2,789 tested in 24 hours. The positivity rate is 3.1 per cent.

Of the cases, 84 are Kenyans and two foreigners. Forty-four are males and 42 females. The youngest is a seven-month-old baby, while the oldest is 96 years old.

This brings the total number of positive cases to 165,465. Cumulative tests conducted so far in the country are 1,744,393.

Some 123 patients have recovered – 58 from home-based and isolation care and  65 from various health facilities.

The total number of recoveries stands at 113,612. Of this number, 82,542 were in home-based and isolation care while 31,070 were in health facilities.

The country has lost two patients to the disease in the last 24 hours. This now brings the total number of fatalities to 3,003.

A total of 1,030 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,815 patients are recovering at home.

Some 109 patients are in the ICU, 24 of whom are on ventilatory support and 70 on supplemental oxygen. Fifteen patients are on observation.

Another 81 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 76 in general wards and five are in high dependency unit.
