A Tuskys employee on Saturday brandished a knife at a cashier at the supermarket’s Karasha branch on Kenyatta Avenue and robbed her of Sh320,000.

The cashier lost her day's collection in the 7pm incident. She had gone to the safe to get the cash when the employee confronted her and ordered her to surrender the money.

The worker escaped with the cash. Police said they established that the CCTV server at the supermarket had been destroyed and the incident was not captured by surveillance cameras.

Police arrived at the scene moments later and questioned staffers who were present.

The officers intend to question more staffers this week as the investigations proceed.

Nairobi police boss Augustine Nthumbi said no arrest had been made.

The supermarket is facing financial challenges and runs five branches from 64 in 12 months.
