An MP from Western Kenya allied to the Tangatanga team has surprised friends and foe after they realised that he has been frequenting the home of a wealthy colleague in the Rift Valley region. The colleague is a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM chief Raila Odinga. The Tangatanga MP, who was formerly outspoken in support of Deputy President William Ruto, has lately changed his tune and avoids most public functions. But those close to him say the legislator of late is quite happy and has even changed his fashion statement and gait because of heavy pockets. Some in the Tangatanga team have been overheard saying the MP should go public and quit Tangatanga instead of seeking to “eat” from both sides. Some have vowed to expose him soon.
That the political war in ODM is getting nasty is not in doubt. However, the direction it is taking is getting interesting. Some ODM leaders are turning their artillery on one MP whom they insist must be tamed. They accuse him of misleading party leader Raila Odinga and using the handshake for his own benefit. His critics say 'he has taken enough for the owner to realise' and must be reminded of this. The plan is to poison the ground to ensure the man’s political rise is cut short before he turns ODM into a 'dictatorship'.
Managers of some private security firms are in tears. Why? They have lost lucrative business in government over their perceived political ownership and affiliation. One manager was overheard bitterly complaining that they have been warned they will lose more over their perceived stand unless they declare they decamp from the “bad camp”. They are already facing huge losses as a result of abrupt business interruption. Forced to eat humble pie, the officials say they have no option but to comply or risk their businesses grinding to a halt.
Some judicial officers have become the talk of town regarding the handling of a child custody case. It is whispered that money has changed hands and then a judge turned a blind eye to his own ruling. The judge had granted the man custody and allowed the woman limited access to the child, citing some grounds, including claims that the woman was never at home owing to her "addiction to the streets", which technically locked her out. However, circumstances have since changed for the man, who claims to have invested a lot in the child, after money changed hands.
