They decried the slow pace of verification of the 4.2 million signatures the Bridges campaigners presented to the IEBC last month.

BBI secretariat co-chairman Junet Mohamed (Suna East MP) said they were disturbed by the turn of events.

The lawmaker cautioned the IEBC not to subject them to another round of protests in a push to remove the commissioners.

The commission chairman was not immediately available for comment when contacted by the Star.

IEBC, in its January 8 update on the verification, said they had captured 544,624 records – being above 50 per cent of the required one million signatures.

“The commission would like to assure all stakeholders and the general public that it is committed to ensuring the verification is carried out in a transparent and accountable manner,” IEBC said in a statement to the press.
