The Kenyan nightlife will officially recommence on Tuesday following President Uhuru Kenyatta's move to reopen bars.
The president on Tuesday lifted the six month suspension of operations in all bars and clubs sarcastically urging Kenyans to "kunywa pombe sasa".
"The prohibition against the operation of bars, and the sale of alcoholic drinks by ordinary restaurants and eateries shall stand vacated from the September 29. Mnaweza kukunywa pombe sasa (you can now drink)," Uhuru said on Monday during the Nantional Covid-19 address at KICC.
Following this directive, bars owners have started preparing for the officially opening after a long wait.
The establishments are to limit operations until 10pm.
This comes as the country's Covid-19 case load rises to 38,378 after recording 210 new virus cases on Tuesday.
Kenya's death toll has crossed the 700 mark recording 707 deaths after seven more patients succumbed.
