This was from a sample of 4,188 tested in the last 24 hours.

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing from Afya House, Mwangangi said age-wise, the youngest was a seven-month-old infant while the oldest was 80 years old. 

Nairobi continues to lead in the daily positivity rate, recording 54 cases in the last 24 hours.

Other counties with new cases include; Kisumu 26, Mombasa 20, Trans Nzoia 16, Kericho 11, Nakuru 10, Kisii seven, Machakos six, Meru five, Turkana five, Lamu three, Nyeri three, Siaya three, Kiambu two, Kajiado two, Busia two, Homabay two, Kilifi two, Samburu two while Kakamega and Embu had one case each.

Another 82 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 23,611.

A total of 33 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 49 were discharged from various health facilities.

The CAS revealed that since the onset of the pandemic, at least 945 healthcare workers have been infected with the virus with 16 having succumbed across 35 counties in the country.
