144 new virus cases as Kenya's infections rise to 34,201

Number of fatalities has risen to 577 after three more patients succumbed to the virus .

Kenya on Monday recorded 144 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country's total to 34,201 .

This was after a sample of 4,260 tested in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative tests to 454,406. 

A statement by the ministry of Health confirmed that 11 of the new cases were foreigners while 133 were Kenyans.

"Age wise, the youngest is a 7-year old child, while the oldest is 84," the statement read. 88 of the cases were males and 56 females.  

Nairobi continues to lead in the daily positivity rate, recording 77 cases in the last 24 hours.

Other counties with new cases include; Mombasa 18, Kiambu 9, Kisumu 6, Kajiado 6, Machakos 5, Narok 5, Turkana 5, Nakuru 4, Nandi 2, Laikipia 1, Meru 1, Siaya 1, Isiolo 1, Kilifi 1, Homabay 1, and Trans Nzoia 1.

Another 205 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing  the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 19,893.

A total of 122 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 83 were discharged from various health facilities.
