Two former staff of Chandarana were charged in a Nairobi court with conspiring to defraud the supermarket of Sh105,000. 

Cornelius Kipkirui Soi and Denis Kariuki Githanga are jointly charged alongside Elvis David Shikutwa and Caleb Mayaka Nyabuti.

The prosecution alleges that between July 1, 2019 and April 5 in Nairobi county, they conspired to steal Sh105,087 from Chandarana Supermarket through unauthorised access.

They are all also accused of unlawfully accessing a computer system belonging to Chandarana Supermarket infringing security measures.

They are further accused of computer fraud contrary to the Computer Cybercrime Act, 2018 and unauthorised interference contrary to the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act of 2o18. 

They denied fraud charges before Milimani chief magistrate Martha Mutuku. They were each released on Sh300,000 bond or Sh100,000 bail, pending the mention of the case on July 2.

According to the prosecution, the accused were arrested by a team of Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU), Serious Crime Unit and Cyber Crime Unit detectives who stormed their hideout.
