• Kalonzo has made his intention known that he is ready to enter a deal with Uhuru.
• President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee has formed a post-election coalition with Kanu.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka hosted his Chama Cha Mashinani counterpart Isaac Rutto for a two-hour meeting on Thursday in Karen, Nairobi.
Details of the meeting remained scant. However, Kalonzo has hosted two similar meetings recently, one with Kanu chairman Gideon Moi and the other with his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang'ula.
This is part of his party's efforts to reach out to other parties to build a coalition. Last week, Wiper National Executive Council (NEC) gave Kalonzo the greenlight to build a coalition with other parties.
Already, President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee has formed a post-election coalition with Kanu. More parties could join the deal. Rutto has also met the President.
Kalonzo has made his intention known that he is ready to enter a deal with Uhuru.
The Wiper leader has reportedly called for another NEC meeting on to deliberate on the party's cooperation with Jubilee. The former vice president's meetings with political heavyweights is an indication that the much-talked-about government of national unity could soon be formed.
Meanwhile, Kalonzo has heightened his efforts to rejuvenate his political standing. He has been actively supporting the war on Covid-19 through donations.
A month ago, he launched a humanitarian initiative dubbed KMF Food Basketover to help feed the hungry during this Covid-19 crisis.
The initiative is run by the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation. It mobilises food and other resources for distribution. The foundation has already delivered 10 tonnes of assorted foodstuffs and a cheque of Sh3 million to the Fund and soon he will be delivering more.
