Kenya Airways has rolled out plan to targeting at least 1000 face masks from unused cotton materials in its stores.
The initiative is being led by its technical department to limit the spread of the coronavirus
“We will be giving the masks we produce to our staff, their families and different communities," CEO Allan Kilavuka said.
He said working with different partners, the airline will identify areas where the masks will be most needed and supply them to bridge the gap.
The initiative is part of the airline's innovative sustainability solutions that involve re-purposing and recycling'', Kilavuka said.
The airline is targeting to produce over 1000 masks with a team of four, each working six hours shifts and producing 80 masks per day.
It is mandatory to wear a mask while in public.
