Sameer Africa employee charged with stealing tyres

Yego was arrested on Tuesday in Eldoret and held at the industrial area police station

An employee of Sameer Africa has been arraigned for stealing from the company 51 tyres valued at Sh808,805.29 within Nairobi county.

Peter Kimutai Yego faces stealing by servant charges. He is said to have stolen the tyres on diverse dates between October 2019 and January 21.

The offense took place at Sameer Africa off Mombasa road in Industrial Area. The charge sheet says the company property came into Yego’s possession by virtue of his employment.

Yego pleaded not guilty to the charges and through his lawyer sought to be released on lenient bail terms.

Milimani magistrate Martha Nanzushi released the accused on Sh200,000 cash bail.

Yego was arrested on Tuesday in Eldoret and held at Industrial Area police station.

The matter will be mentioned on February 26.
