• Says he will use Mariga to bring change in Kibra.
Deputy President William Ruto has said he will campaign for McDonald Mariga come 2022.
He spoke on Friday during a thanksgiving ceremony at Bomas of Kenya to show appreciation to voters who supported Jubilee during the November 7 by-election.
Ruto said he will not keep off Kibra politics.
He said he has learnt the “tricks” that were used to win the parliamentary elections.
“Bedroom ya kila mtu iko kwa bibi yako. Kibra ni Kenya na Kenya ni yetu sisi sote (the only private bedroom is the one you share with your wife, Kenya is everyone’s),"Ruto said.
"We have learnt key lessons from the Kibra mini poll. Yule mzee alitafuta watu wamsaidie kwa bedroom lakini wajue vitu kwa ground sasa ni different."
This loosely translates to, “That old man looked for people to help him in the bedroom, but he should know things have changed”.
Ruto said he will use Mariga as a bridge to develop Kibra.
"Through Mariga, Jubilee administration will build a church, schools and mosques," he said.
Ruto said Kibra residents are tired of cheap politics and want their constituency developed.
He further critiqued ODM leaders, accusing them of instigating violence during the by-election.
Ruto said such leaders have no capacity to lead even a small village.
"You are an idiot if your pride comes from using force to win elections” he added.
