ODM leader Raila Odinga has fired a salvo at former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale after he was caught on camera carrying stones during the Kibra by-election.
Khalwale on Thursday was among those who were caught up in the Kibra violence and he did not hesitate to show his 'dark side'.
The former senator who was in the constituency to ‘guard’ Jubilee's McDonald Mariga’s votes also hurled stones at rivals when they confronted him at the DC grounds.
Earlier on, Khalwale had to run away for dear life when a mob confronted him at Mashimoni area.
Raila during the thanksgiving rally at Kibra on Sunday mocked the former legislator saying that he had turned into a geologist, checking for minerals in the stones he was pictured carrying.
"Ametoka Ikolomani amekuja hapa Kibra kuwa geologist. Anachukua mawe hapa Kibra kutafuta gold. (He left Ikolomani recently for Kibra as a geologist. He took stones from Kibra and then he began to check if there was gold in them),"Raila said.
As the crowd roared with laughter, Raila was unable to put up a poker face and let out a chuckle.
On his part , Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya said Khalwale's act of throwing stone was a shame to the Luhya community.
"Nimekuja kuomba msamaha kwa niaba ya watu wa kakamega kwa aibu mlizoonyeshwa hapa siku ya kupiga kura (I offer an apology to the barbaric act of throwing stones portrayed by former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale),"he said.
Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo asked Interior CS Fred Matiang'i to immediately arrest Khalwale over the same.
"I saw Khalwale carrying stones, and I want to tell Matiang'i to immediately arrest the former senator," Millie said.
Millie accused Khalwale of instigating violence that was witnessed during the voting exercise.
"He is the one who initiated violence in Kibra yet the residents were peaceful that day," Millie said.
Imran who is the brother to the late Ken Okoth garnered 24, 636 votes to win against 23 other contestants during the by-election.
Jubilee's candidate McDonald Mariga came in second with 11, 230 votes while Musalia Mudavadi's ANC candidate Eliud Owalo came in third with 5, 275 votes.
Moses Wetangula's Ford Kenya candidate Khamisi Butichi came fourth with 260 votes.
The total votes cast was 41, 984 against a registered number 118, 658 votes representing a 35.38 per cent voter turnout.
