It was all pomp and colour as former Kenyan international Mcdonald Mariga made his way to the Jubilee party headquarters on Tuesday morning to receive his nomination certificate.
Driven in a H2 Hummer, Mariga rode shotgun accompanied by three associates, one of whom was his younger brother.

According to the car's manufacturer website, AM General started making High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles for the US Army in 1983.
They started building the civilian models (or Hummers) in 1992.
In 1999, General Motors acquired exclusive ownership of the Hummer brand name and the marketing rights from AM General.
Hummers are no longer made. The last Hummer H3 model was made in 2010.
In 2015, AM General lost the bid to construct the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) replacement (the HMMWV is the military-grade Hummer).

Mariga's car is equipped with interesting features that make it a stand out vehicle.
It has run-flat tyres that have rubber spacer assemblies placed inside each wheel enabling you to drive on one or more flat tires for up to 48 kilometres at 32 km/h.
The driver can inflate or deflate the front tyres together, the rear tyres together, or all four tyres at the same time.
It has amber marker lights on the front exterior of the cabin and red marker lights on the rear of the cabin. The car comes with two fuel tanks.
The car, however, has a high maintenance cost and it can be difficult to pass other vehicles on narrow roads.
After being handed over the nomination certificate by Jubilee's SG Raphael Tuju, Mariga was driven by the younger brother to the City-County Engineers Department along Ngong road for IEBC clearance.
The electoral body turned down his nomination.

Police in 2012 detained Mariga’s Hummer for bearing personalised number plate.
The then Traffic Commandant Patrick Lumumba said the vehicle was detained on Wednesday morning when his younger brother was found driving it.
The vehicle bears Mariga’s name on the front plate instead of the official registration number issued to him by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
Lumumba said the offence is punishable under Section 12 of the Traffic Act which outlines all prescribed number plates.
