Man who shot Ronalo foods owner has a case to answer

If found guilty, Mboya will serve life in prison for attempted murder.

A man who shot Ronalo Foods restaurant owner William Osewe six times over love triangle has a case to answer, the court ruled yesterday.

Tom Mboya will have to defend himself after being charged with shooting William Osewe  in 2016 at Garden estate.

If found guilty, Mboya will serve life in prison for attempted murder.

It was alleged that the two were fighting over a woman, who is believed to be Osewe's wife.

In her ruling on Friday, Nairobi chief magistrate Martha Mutuku put Mboya on defence to explain his side of the story before he is sentenced.

"I have found the accused with a case to answer and I place him on his defence,"ruled Mutuku.

He is accused of trying to kill Osewe and another man, Wilfred Ombunya Tembula.

He pleaded not guilty in 2017 and is out on a cash bail of Sh300,000.

Osewe, the owner of the popular Ranalo or K'osewe foods along Kimathi Street was shot on December 1, 2016.

 
 

He had just taken lunch at Hagon Hotel, an eatery off Thika Road, with Mboya.

But a few minutes later, Osewe was being rushed to the hospital, his life hanging in the balance.

Mboya is said to have had surrendered himself at Kasarani police after shooting incident and alleged that their fallout was as a result of suspicions that he was close to Osewe's wife Stella Mutheu.

Osewe who was admitted at the Aga Khan Hospital’s High Dependency Unit (HDU) where he underwent a series of surgeries to remove bullets lodged in his abdomen.

He testified in court while on a wheelchair, his testimony emotionally moved the court.
