Butcher denies arson attempt on ex-lover's house

A butchery attendant was yesterday charged with attempting to burn his former girlfriend's house after their relationship got sour. 

The prosecution said Gerald Kariuki Muturi was unhappy with Pendo Mtui’s decision to end their relationship.

The accused allegedly went to Mtui's Dagoretti house and set some clothes on fire at the doorstep. The complainant alerted neighbours when the fire started spreading who called the police and the accused was and taken to Kabete police station.

He denied the charges before Kibera principal magistrate Derrick Kuto.

He was released on a Sh200,000 bond or a Sh100,000 bail until July 2 when the hearing starts.
