Hundreds of commuters in Umoja Estate were on Thursday forced to walk to Buru Buru Estate to get transport to their places of work.

This was after Umoinner matatu Sacco

that operates in the estate boycotted work to protest encroachment by its rivals.

A witness at the scene said Risen Sacco matatus encroached on Umoinner's route, which is against the rules.

"Risen came and started carrying passengers but Umoinner protested. Police arrested some crew

members," he said.

The arrests prompted other Umoinner drivers to boycott carrying passengers and also prevented Risen from doing the same.

"Most of the people are walking, at least they will get vehicles from Buru to town," he added.

They called on the National Transportation and Safety Authority to intervene on the route wars.
