26,000 bags of contraband sugar found in Eastleigh

Police on Tuesday discovered 26,000 bags of contraband sugar at a godown on 1st Avenue Eastleigh in Nairobi.DCI officers from Parklands sealed off the warehouse pending further investigations.This was the third consignment of sugar to be found in the area in a month.On June 4, police discovered more than 20,000 bags of contraband brown sugar in Eastleigh section Three.

Police on Tuesday discovered 26,000 bags of contraband sugar at a godown on 1st Avenue Eastleigh in Nairobi.

DCI officers from Parklands sealed off the warehouse pending further investigations.

This was the third consignment of sugar to be found in the area in a month.

On June 4, police discovered more than 20,000 bags of contraband brown sugar in Eastleigh section Three.

Cooking oil was also confiscated by officers who had been tipped off.

Interior CS Fred Matiang'i later said preliminary investigations established that the sugar contained mercury.
