Five GSU officers killed in Liboi IED attack

Five GSU officers died on Wednesday after their vehicle ran over an IED in Liboi town. The officers were on their way from their camp in Liboi during the 8am incident. The officers were carrying out normal patrols on the route. Their vehicle rolled several times on impact. Garissa county commissioner Joshua Chepchieng' confirmed the incident but did not provide more details.

Five GSU officers died on Wednesday after their vehicle ran over an IED in Liboi town.

The officers were on their way from their camp in Liboi during the 8am incident.

The officers were carrying out normal patrols on the route. Their vehicle rolled several times on impact.

Garissa county commissioner Joshua Chepchieng' confirmed the incident but did not provide more details.

"It is true that we have lost our officers this morning in the unfortunate incident. Give us more time to piece up information on the same."

"I will get back to you when I have the same," he told the Star on the phone.

Dadaab deputy county commissioner Harun Kamau said three critically officers were airlifted to Nairobi for specialised treatment.
