Kwale residents have raised fears of Mombasa's Wakali Kwanza gang spreading its activities to to the county.

This followed attacks in Matuga at Ng'ombeni by the infamous machete and knife-wielding group.

Their activities were widespread in Kisauni before police wiped out most of the members.

Samuel Towet an assistant county commissioner said security officers have been directed to deal with the gang.

"An operation has started to weed out the gang. We are urging the community to give any report on insecurity for our intervention."

Towet assured the residents of tight security and has warned the gang against causing havoc in the area.
