Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has accused Governor Evans Kidero of attempting to arrest members of his rescue team to stop their operations in the city.

Sonko claimed on Tuesday that Kidero ordered the arrests after the lot started cleaning streets yet he

got permits and clearance from City Hall.

"I

am privy to information that the county government has instructed a team to arrest my team in the ongoing 'Operation Ng'arisha Jiji'," he

said on his Facebook account on Wednesday.

"The operation is aimed at making sure all our estates and slums are cleaned up and that their lost glory is restored."

The Jubilee Party governor candidate further said the reasons given by officers sent to stop the exercise did not hold water.

The claim was that the Sonko Rescue Team members were collecting and disposing garbage by the road side instead of transporting it to the Dandora dump site.

"I have evidence including the city county dumping receipts to prove we adhered to laws relating to collection and dumping of garbage."

"I wish to confirm that my team has been taking collected garbage to the Dandora dump site using our trucks."

He asked the county to avoid politicising the issue and focus on improving the environment and lives of Nairobi residents.
