A court has issued warrants for the arrest of Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire and Embu Speaker Justus Mate on reports that they prevented a senior police officer from doing his work.
Resident magistrate Jean Ndengeri issued the warrants on Tuesday after the two failed to appear in court.
They are facing charges of keeping
Embu police boss Francis Sang from performing his duties at Embu Teaching and Referral Hospital following nominations.
Ndengeri ordered police to apprehend the leaders and take them to court on Thursday. They have the option of appearing voluntarily to answer to charges concerning the April 27 incident.
The prosecution applied for the warrants when the case was mentioned today.
Mbarire and Mate were initially to appear in court last Friday for allegedly committing the offence with others not before court.
They are said to have led their supporters in storming the hospital on claims the county returning officer was manipulating results for the governor nominations.

The officer had been admitted to the ICU after suffering serious injuries during an attack by people believed to be politicians' supporters.
Reports indicated he was hit with a piece of timber by people who demanded certificates saying their leaders had won the primaries.
The two and senator
aspirant Geoffrey Ruku are said to have confronted the officer after finding him at the hospital.
They reportedly demanded that the officer and county police commander Nelson Okioga conduct
a search at the ICU.
Mbarire and the policemen are said to have found the returning officer with two county executives and his wife in the ICU. Several election documents are said to have been in the ward.
Police were accused of whisking the man out of the room after the politicians demanded to know what was going on.
Under tight security, he was reportedly taken to the county tallying centre at Kangaru Boys' High School where he announced results for the governor, senator and woman
representative
seats.
Wambora won the governor nominations, former cooperative development minister Njeru Ndwiga the senator primaries and Jane Wanjuki the woman representative’s primaries.
Mbarire and Ruku rejected the results saying they were massively manipulated.
