Joyce Laboso wins Jubilee Bomet governor ticket

National Assembly deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso has secured the Jubilee ticket to vie for the Bomet governor seat int he August 8 polls.

Laboso was declared the winner with a final tally of 115,289 votes against long-time rival Julius Kones who got 72,500.

She will now face off with the incumbent Governor Isaac Rutto of Chama cha Mashinani.

Rutto broke ranks with Jubilee and formed CCM. In October last year, he met elected MPs and MCAs, seeking their support in his reelection bid.

Laboso was endorsed by her clan to run for the county chief post. She was blessed and given powers of a community leader in a Kalenjin traditional ceremony.
